Writers Blog

Welcome to my blog.

I have decided to start this blog for one reason only, to share my experiences on my quest to become a successful author.

This, I hope will help others on a similar path. I will be posting comments from agents, publishers,  reviews and critics, of course I will not be mentioning names but I will give you the nitty gritty and how those comments affected me.

I will be updating and sharing what I do on a day to day basis and letting you all into my life as an author trying to break through the tough barriers into the writing world. My goal is to become the writer whose books people want to pick up without even reading the back cover. However, writing the book is the easy part, it's  the work that comes afterwards that is needed to succeed.

Hope you like it

My Inspiration

I was reading today about Martina Cole, she has sold over 14 million books in the UK today alone. She is by far the best crime writer around. I am inspired by her as not only does she do regular writing courses for prisoners. She does so much for charity and single parent families. Her books are fantastic and it is Martina Coles novels, that have influenced me the most to write. Of course she has written over 20 novels, but I still would love to have the success she has. It is not easy in this business and to become a top writer like Martina, I L M Bush, will have a long road ahead but I am willing to meet that challenge head on. I have had great feedback from the customers who have read my first book. An eye for an eye by L M Bush is my next novel. I feel I have grown as a writer and found my writing style. I am now working on my 3rd book Cut the Mustard this will be the last episode in the Tony Hayes series. Unlike Martina, I am not represented by an agent as yet. However I feel that it is all about promotion as many people have not heard of my books yet, due to advertising budget etc. Martina has her own situations, she has been in a lot of pain from arthritis for some time now and still even though it makes it hard for her to write she still is doing best seller after best seller.

How It All Began..

Hey,this is me – Lisa.

When I first started this venture I was told  `You have to blog, you have to blog! ` – `Great !`, I thought… `what`s blogging ?`

Being a 70s baby, social media wasn’t instinctively born into me and natural.  Immediately I thought `Bridget Jones Diary ` … Okay, I can do this – I have to do a daily diary of events – Ah now you’re talking my language !

So heres goes ….. I am just your joe average, living a normal life. I’m married to an amazing man called Mick and together we have an amazing son called Dominic. Life is cool, and I have no need to appear on the Jeremy Kyle show bearing my soul to the world.

I like to go to the gym, cooking, reading, and I’m an avid film buff and I love chinese food. And then I hit 40!

I woke up a few one morning shortly before my fortieth birthday and turning to Mick, I announced that seeing as now I was officially almost at an age that I consider to be `grown-up` , I wanted to  do something amazing.  I wanted to write a book !

“What about?” he said looking at me in amusement…..  ” I’m not sure yet- But I just wanna write a book ”  He smiled that encouraging gorgeous smile he does and replied  “Then do it babe – There are a million people who try to write books but they never see it through and finish them. It`s an amazing thing to do – Do it babe.”

I hurried out to the study and grabbed a pen and a pad of paper and began scribbling ideas down. I thought back to books I have read, and authors whose books i love and I instantly knew what type of book I wanted to write and so began the story of Hanging Tough……
